Shoes
These shoes.... Sigh. A gift and a curse.
These Nike Huarache 09 in White/Red/Black were my first pair of legit basketball shoes... EVER! Before these, I bought $60 basketball shoes from Famous Footwear. Before that, I bought $50 all black Reeboks from FootLocker. And before that, I played basketball in whatever shoes I owned - usually Adidas Superstars. When I first wore these shoes, they felt like heaven - cushioned, light, comfortable. I definitely like $110 were worth it.
Then I sprained my ankle. After... 4 months of rocking the Huaraches, I landed on someone's ankle, heard a pop (that's how bad it was), ended up cracking my ankle bones (yup, that's how bad it was), and had to start wearing an ankle brace. It was a freak accident, and I shouldn't blame the shoes, but I did. LOL - I could've (and should've) bought the Kobe's. Oh well. Then the shoe started ripping because of the ankle brace. The picture shows what it looks like right now. It was about time to get rid of these cursed shoes...
And buy these beauties!!
I was waiting for a while for Nike to release some cooler shoes. At the time when my shoes started to rip, they had the Nike Hyperizes (which had the coolest commercial with Kevin Durant, Mo Williams, Iguadala, and DJ Quik) which I heard were not all that great. Plus they were expensivo. Ugh. The other shoes that Nike released were the Nike Huaraches '10. PSH - you think I'm going to fall for that again!? Get outta here with that P.O.S. shoe!!
Then, during the LA vs Boston Playoff series, I saw the shoes that Rondo was rocking. It was the game where he started with white, changed to green, then back to white (or vice versa) in the same game. They looked super cool, so I researched them, and they ended up being the NIke Hyperfuses. Unfortunately, they were not available to the public at the time.
Two days ago, Monday, I went to a Sport Chalet because I have a gift card for about $40 that would have helped purchase the shoes considerably, but they didn't have the colorway. Today, I went to another Sport Chalet, and they also didn't have the colorway.
So I just bought them online today. Size 10, $87, coming in 6-8 days.
Yee boy. I love them already!!
